Community Courses
Held over 10 weeks, this course is built on the skills assumed or developed from some experience or a prior basic counselling skills course (LCC, RA, Lifeline or other training). It is based on Christian principles and is designed to help you respond effectively to individuals or couples and will assist new counsellors address a variety of issues and problems, particularly in relationships.
It combines theory and practice as the links between difficulties in people's lives and their beliefs, behaviours and structures are considered. Case studies, presentations, journaling, reading and the group's personal ex perience and existing skills will provide the opportunities for learning in a relaxed and fun environment.
Held over 10 weeks, this course is based on Christian principles and introduces basic counselling skills with an emphasis on responsive listening techniques and goal setting. Personal awareness and growth are strong outcomes as we examine our relationships with others. No prior knowledge is assumed. It is particularly useful for volunteers, visitors, church workers,
youth workers and anyone who wished to learn how to respond more effectively and comfortably to others experiencing difficulties in their lives.

An intensive one or two day workshop based on Christina principles and introducing basic skills for helping communities with an emphasis on responsive listening techniques and goal setting. No prior knowledge is assumed. The intensive format makes it ideal for rural and regional communities- recent workshops held at Berri and Coonalpyn.
Material covered includes steps to understanding needs and problems,
"EXPLORE WAYS OF HELPING COMMUNITIES AND REACHING FAMILIES AND FRIENDS IN DIFFICULT TIMES"
communications skills including effective listening and responding, the change process and the role of the Holy Spirit, elements of counselling and how to encourage sharing and personal growth.

How do you react when faced with friends and relatives in relationship crisis? This short course is about exploring the issues for the wider community of marriage and family breakdown. It will provide useful information on how to help others who are in relationship crisis.
The workshop covers initial
responses to relationship difficulties and breakdowns, looking at how best to respond to those going through difficulties, separation and divorce and think about relationships.
Ideal for congregations, small groups & community groups.
This course is used in consultation with regional communities experiencing drought or times of stress with the goal of developing strategies for overcoming adversity. It consists of 6-8 four hour workshops which focus on building strong relationships as the key to personal and community resilience.
Offered in rural and remote areas.

Topics covered are looking after relationships-communication, stress, grief and loss; adding to your parenting skills; tough aspects of parenting; helping friends and relatives in crisis and dealing with the tough stuff (anger, conflict, boundaries, relationship and violence).
Looking for ways to look after your memory? This 2 1/2 hour workshop provides fresh insights into the memory system, normal ageing and normal forgetting, ways to keep the brain healthy and strategies for remembering well.
