Referral Process
To the Accommodation Service:
Homeless families are referred to our service via
Family Accommodation Information and Referral Services
(FAIRS) or via other agencies. FAIRS are a central contact point between homeless people looking for accommodation and the vacancies that occur in the accommodation services. Families in search of assistance need to register with FAIRS where they will be required to give information appropriate for the referral into our service.
Once a vacancy occurs in one of our properties we contact FAIRS and they forward to us the referral information about potential clients. Upon receipt of this information an appointment is booked with the family for an interview where we discuss the issues the family is presenting with and ensure our service is in a position to provide appropriate support for the family. Once this has been established the family is offered accommodation on a three month lease in our service.

To the Outreach Service.
Families who are in crisis and are at risk of homelessness can self refer to the outreach service. Once they make contact they will be asked about the circumstances and issues that are putting their accommodation at risk and the worker will do an assessment of the situation to determine if appropriate support can be offered. Once this is established meetings are arranged to follow through with support to the client.
