Communities For Children

A collaborative approach in seeking to achieve better outcomes for children 0-5 and their families in Murray Bridge, Callington, Mannum and Tailem Bend.  Child Friendly Communities is a program that encourages businesses, local organisations and local government to value families and their children.

The program aims to support and increase awareness of existing local programs, services and strengths.  Organisers of local existing events will be supported and assisted to promote child and family friendly facilities at these events, such as feed and change areas as well as activities for young children.

A range of Communities for Children events will also be staged in the 4 communities.  A local resource booklet has been developed detailing all the available services in these communities for families with young children.  These booklets are available from the local Visitor Information centres, local council offices as well as from Lutheran Community Care in Murray Bridge.

An Art Program is also running where Artist in Residence work with local children to create valuable artworks within their communities and to assist the children to participate and enjoy a wide variety of arts including dance, drama and painting.  Reference groups exist in each of the communities and anyone wishing to join one of the local groups should  contact Lutheran Community Care at their Murray Bridge office on 8531 3644.
