What is the Low Income Support Program
The Low Income Support Program (LISP) is funded by the Department of Familes & Communities (DFC) in South Australia. There are LISP programs throughout SA, but Lutheran Community Care specifically operates the program throughout the Adelaide, Port Adelaide Enfield, Prospect, Campbelltown & Tea Tree Gully Local Government Area regions in South Australia.

Aims of the program:
Direct Service Delivery:
- Provision of financial counselling, referral, information and education (through training) to individuals and groups, to promote knowledge and skills for sound financial management.
- Advocating on behalf of low income consumers to agencies providing essential services.
Community Development:
- Work with community groups to facilitate sound networking and information sharing.
- Work with the community to encourage projects that will benefit the local community.
- Promote low income support services in the area and distribute information to low income consumers.

- Young unemployed and homeless people
- Sole Parents
- Families on low incomes
- Disadvantaged young people living alone
- Aboriginal people
- People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
Current Projects Lutheran Community Care is operating under
the Low Income Support Program:
- Advocacy and support for community groups who provide preventative and material assistance to low income groups. Outsourcing of financial counselling to community groups in each Families SA region.
- Financial counselling and advocacy of individual clients living on low incomes.
- Development and support of innovative community projects that seek to meet the needs of more specific low income groups.
- Networking closely with Emergency Relief outlets so that together we might provide the best possible level of service.
- Coordination of Anti-Poverty Forums in regional areas.
- Provision of a Low Income Support Program Newsletter and Homepage on the Internet, to assist agencies and individuals to network on low income issues.
- Providing resources for individuals and groups to establish low income projects.
- Provision of resource materials for community groups.
