Anti-Poverty Forums

Part of the work undertaken by Lutheran Community Care and other agencies Coordinating Low Income Support Programs is through Anti-Poverty Forums. Anti-Poverty Forums allow a number of community members and organisations to gather together to discuss and implement strategies to assist people living on low incomes in local areas/regions.

AIMS/ROLES OF THE ANTI-POVERTY FORUMS

  • To develop a spirit of collaboration and cooperation in the region on low-income issues. .
  • To support and facilitate the development of new projects that focus on the needs in the region.
  • To provide a mechanism for training opportunities for groups of people on low incomes in the region.
  • To provide an advocacy focus in the region and seek to advocate on behalf of low-income groups in the region.
  • To keep up-to-date with and encourage research initiative on issues for people on low incomes and use this information to support local services.
  • As a means of keeping up with changes to existing services - Government and non-Government - for the purposes of referral and collaboration.
