The Community Visitors Scheme

Volunteering opportunities

The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is a national program funded by the Australian Government to enrich the quality of life of residents living in Aged Care Facilities. It helps to generate links between people living in aged care homes and their local community.

Volunteering opportunities ore available with the Community Visitors Scheme to visit residents living in aged care facilities who have little or no family contact or who are socially isolated and lonely. Each visitor is matched to visit one resident once a fortnight. We coordinate opportunities for visiting in 27 facilities in the Barossa, Adelaide Hills, North Eastern suburbs of Adelaide and Adelaide City.

The experience offers great rewards for both visitor and resident.

For more information contact Di Schneider at the Centre for Learning, Lutheran Community Care on 8331 3111 or for the Barossa region Annie Chambers on 8562 2688.
