Emergency Relief
Emergency relief provides support for people in receipt of a Centrelink benefit who are in immediate need to overcome an 'unforseen' event. See the suburb list below for details of the area we cover.
WHAT MAY BE PROVIDED?
Emergency relief in the form of material goods including items from the Care & Clothing Shops. Financial assistance* is also available in the form of food, vouchers and part payments of electricity, utility or phone bills, together with community information and/or referrals.
HOW TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AND WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU
Appointments are made on a first come first served basis on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. To make an appointment either come to the entrance of Lutheran Community Care, Blair Athol, at or before 9:00am on those days, for a same day appointment or telephone 8269 9300 at 9:00am.
It is very important to bring the appropriate documentation to the appointment. This includes:

A Centrelink Income Statement not more than two weeks old.

ID with current address

Some proof of how you have spent your money (receipts), bills (paid and unpaid)

Police report (where necessary)
Lutheran Community Care can provide assistance for households up to three (3) times in any 12 month period and once (1) in a Centrelink payment period.
(This does not automatically restart at the beginning of a calendar or financial year.)
