Personal Support Program

The Personal Support Program is a program designed to assist people who have experienced long-term unemployment or face a high level of social and emotional issues to regain self-confidence, life direction and to participate fully in the community. The program operates by encouraging participants to work out an action plan for their future. Our case worker assists them to achieve these goals within the action plan. Participants can stay in the program for 2 years.

The program provides specialised personal counselling and case management support to assist participants achieve their goals. Participants need to be referred to the program via Centrelink and need to be unemployed and in receipt of a Centrelink benefit to be eligible for the program.

Lutheran Community Care's services within Personal Support Program are as follows:

  • Personal Counselling
  • Assisting people to reconnect with their communities
  • Advocacy for participants entitlements
  • Basic life-skills assistance
  • Assistance with referral to support agencies that may assist with more specialised support - such as drug and alcohol counselling

The Personal Support Program is a Commonwealth funded program and is administered by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations ( DEWR ).

Lutheran Community Care operates the Personal Support Program in four locations in SA. These are:

  • Mt. Barker
  • Mt Gambier
  • Murray Bridge
  • Glenelg

Lutheran Community Care has an experienced and well qualified team of case workers supporting over 120 people across the State.
